The
geography of the area is such that
different ecological tiers have been
formed, favoring the existence of
a great diversity of both flora and
fauna.
For example, there are more
than 100 species of birds, including
the Condor and the Giant Humming Bird;
300 plant species, 30 of which are
cacti, and others are very primitive
life forms, such as the Yareta; and
the four species of Andean camelids
are found here: the wild Vicuņa and
Guanaco, as well as their domesticated
cousins, the Llama and Alpaca.
